August 2009 ~ Support Chris Oliver's fundraiser for 500 miles...

Chris Oliver

Chris Oliver, Edinburgh Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, is cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats this August. The ride will be almost 1000 miles. In the last two years he's lost 53Kg after weight loss surgery, it will be quite a challenge.

Chris was one of the surgeons who looked after Olivia Giles who lost all four limbs due to meningitis. Chris is going to raise money for Olivia's charity, 500 miles which support FlySpec, a service which takes orthopaedic and plastic / reconstructive surgery, principally by air, to disabled people in towns and rural communities in Zambia, where such surgery is not otherwise available. Chris is planning to raise 10,000; donations can be made via Chris's page at Just, where you can also see details of the stages he's planning... Glentress doesn't sound like a 'rest day', unless it's viewing only!
