Craigmillar Castle

TIME: Meet at 9.45 a.m for 10.00 a.m. start. 3½ hour cycle ride including rests & a coffee break.

STARTING POINT: The Meadows, the junction of Middle Meadow Walk & North Meadow Walk

ROUTE SUMMARY: This ride offers a relaxed cycle, largely away from traffic exploring places of interest on the east of the city.

DISTANCE: Approximately 9 miles.

DETAILS: The area of Craigmillar can trace it's lengthy history back some 700 years, and the Castle's location was considered far outside Edinburgh when James V, the father of Mary, Queen of Scots, resided there in 1517. We'll explore the area, which is currently under redevelopment, before stopping for our coffee break, possibly at Newhailes House.
