DATE: Sunday 30th November 2008

TIME: Meet at 9.45 a.m for 10.00 a.m. start. 3½ hour cycle ride including rests & a coffee break

STARTING POINT: Ainslie Park Leisure Centre,(near entrance), 92 Pilton Dr, Edinburgh EH5 2HF.

ROUTE SUMMARY: This ride offers a relaxed cycle, largely away from traffic exploring places of interest on the north of the city.

DISTANCE: Approximately 9 miles.

DETAILS: From Ainslie Park we'll explore North Edinburgh Path Network (part of which is formerly the Roseburn - Leith old rail path), following a course parallel to Ferry Road & then heading south. This section probably forms one of the busiest off road routes in Edinburgh. Plenty of cyclists, walkers & joggers. Whilst not being a direct route to the city centre, the route can be taken all the way to Haymarket Station. In addition to being traffic free, it's gradient is very easy & there are no interruptions such as traffic lights. From Haymarket, we'll explore quiet routes to Dean Village & the New Town, before heading north & east again toward Warriston & Leith. We'll return to Ainslie Park after having stopped en route at Ocean Terminal for a coffee.
